Admission profile

This doctorate program is oriented to professionals related to the study of human behavior, including psychology, medicine, biological and health sciences, humanities, among others.

Mandatory Requirements

  • Bachelor`s degree, granted by an acceredited program of a national university or in a program of a froign university.

Desirable Requirements

  • Participation or authorship in research products (publications, projects, etc.).
  • Management of statistical tools at intermediate level (selection comunittee’s criterian).
  • Experience in intervention.
  • Master’s degree.
  • Intermediate English (TOEFL certificate above 55 iBT or similar accreditation).

Application documents

  • Academic degree certificate, original version or legally validated. For foreign applicants their certificates must by authorized by the Chilean Consulate in the country of origin.
  • Undergraduate ranking and grades certificate. For foreign applicants this certificates must be authorized by the Chilean Consulate in the country of origin.
  • Curriculum vitae
  • Two recommendation letters from suitable references (PhD national or international). Emphasizing experience in academic instruction or research. The letters (Recommendation Letter DCDP) should be send directly by the person of reference to [email protected]
  • Personal interest letter, which should include previous formation and education related to this Doctorate Program, personal motivations and how this doctorate is related with academic aspirations and projects in the future.
  • English certificate, intermediate or advance level of comprehension (TOEFL, IELTS or similar)
  • Passport or Identification Card both sides copy.

Admission process:

Once the documents have been received, they will be evaluated by the Doctoral Director and the Academic Committee in order to ensure that the standards for acceptance to the program are met. They will also make a pre-selection based on the fit between the submitted documents and the objectives, characteristics and requirements of the program.

If the minimum requirements are met, the pre-selected applicants will be interviewed by the Program Director and members of the Academic Committee, where the following points will be evaluated:

  • Theoretical competencies in Psychology.
  • Motivation of the applicant to be trained in research.
  • Critical capacity of the applicant to address a research problem in the area of developmental psychopathology.
  • Ability to complete the doctoral program within the time frame contemplated.
  • Personal aspects that guarantee dedication and performance.
  • Clarity in the research topic.
  • Competence in the use of computer programs, such as word processing and statistical analysis packages.
