Admission Profile
This program is oriented to professionals in areas related to the study of human behavior, including professionals in psychology, medicine, biological and health sciences, humanities, among others.
Mandatory Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in psychology or in health sciences, social sciences or other related areas, awarded by an accredited program of a national university or in a program of a foreign university.
Desirable Requirements (accreditable)
- Master’s degree.
- Intermediate level of statistical tools (selection committee criteria).
- Participation or authorship in research products (publications, projects, etc).
- Experience in intervention.
- Intermediate English (TOEFL certificate higher than 55 iBT or similar accreditation).
During the period in which the call is open, applicants must, in the first instance, complete the application form, available in the “Apply here” tab, in which they must upload the following documents to complete the application process:
- Original certificate(s) of degree(s) or notarized photocopy(s). If the applicant is a foreigner, his/her certificates must be apostilled by the corresponding body in his/her country of origin. Master’s certificates/degrees must be uploaded to the platform.
- Certificate of concentration of grades of undergraduate and graduate university studies with graduation ranking. Likewise, if the applicant is a foreigner, the certificates must be apostilled by the corresponding body in his/her country of origin.
- Curriculum Vitae (Format: Curriculum Vitae).
- Two letters of recommendation from suitable persons to a doctoral program (Doctors or PhD, national or international) emphasizing teaching and/or research experience (Format: Letter of Recommendation). The letters should be sent directly by the recommending persons by October 07, 2024, to Jacqueline López at her e-mail address: [email protected].
- A personal motivation letter, stating what previous training has prepared you to apply to this PhD Program, what your personal motivations are and how this PhD can prepare you for your future academic aspirations (Sample Format: Personal Motivation Letter).
- A letter of academic interest (Sample Format: Letter of Academic Interest).
- Legalized photocopy of identity card on both sides or passport for foreign students.
- Birth certificate.
As established in the Regulations of the Application and Selection Process for the PhD in Developmental Sciences and Psychopathology (Annex 12), when the application process is closed, the background of all applicants will be compiled and those who do not meet the requirements and/or do not include any of the requested documents will be excluded from the process.
Selection Process:
All documents must be uploaded to the on-line platform indicated in the “Apply here” tab.
Once the documents have been received, they will be evaluated by the Doctoral Director and the Academic Committee in order to ensure that the standards for acceptance to the program are met. They will also make a pre-selection based on the fit between the submitted documents and the objectives, characteristics and requirements of the program.
If the minimum requirements are met, the pre-selected applicants will be interviewed by the Program Director and members of the Academic Committee, where the following points will be evaluated:
- Theoretical competencies in Psychology.
- Motivation of the applicant to be trained in research.
- Critical capacity of the applicant to address a research problem in the area of developmental psychopathology.
- Ability to complete the doctoral program within the time frame contemplated.
- Personal aspects that guarantee dedication and performance.
- Clarity in the research topic.
- Competence in the use of computer programs, such as word processing and statistical analysis packages.
